Which AI agent use cases should a mid-size business start with?

Three loops a mid-market company should give an agent first

Mid-market companies do not lose money because they lack a model. They lose money because repeating work sits in one inbox. 2026 guides keep repeating the same constraint: one process, one team, one measurable outcome. Helixfield agrees. A first install that tries to “do AI” is a demo. A first install that owns intake, exceptions, or aging is a loop.

The twelve-hour engagement pack is the revenue loop. Professional firms are slow in the first forty-eight hours after an inquiry. Practice writing this year calls that window the work to automate first: capture, classify, prepare the human, draft, attach evidence. The partner still decides fit. The bot makes the decision possible before lunch. Helixfield will not let that bot imply advice.

The exception floor is the service loop. Plants and distributors do not need a control tower. They need a bot that packs the last accepted promise and drafts the next status note without inventing a Friday. The ops lead sends. The graph remembers which customer was told which date, so two people stop contradicting each other.

The aging desk is the cash loop. Productized collectors now sell unsupervised voice and SMS. That is a different product. Helixfield installs follow-through you can live with: accepted terms in the graph, drafted notes, a controller who hits send. We will not quote a guaranteed DSO cut. We will install a loop that makes the follow-up exist.

Pick one. Name the owner. Measure something dull — hours to first response, exceptions closed the same day, invoices that received a packed note. Then, and only then, buy the next loop. The patterns live on the use cases page. They are not invented clients.
